Southampton Airport (SOU)
Car Parking
(Southampton, England)
Southampton Airport has two parking lots, one for short-term use and the other for long-term stays.
While the short-term parking lot is within easy walking distance of the terminal building, the long-term parking lot is set much farther away and requires users to utilise the convenient free parking shuttle service.
There is plenty of thoughtfully positioned disabled parking in the short-term parking lot for vehicles with appropriate blue badge identification, for which parking is discounted. Each parking lot is secure, with the latest in video surveillance, patrols and lighting to ensure the safety of your vehicle.
You can pay for your parking via three methods at the airport. People wishing to use the long-term car parking lot can pre-book their space and pay in advance by credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Delta, American Express, Diners Club or Switch), while a counter situated opposite Baggage Claim allows both short-term and long-term car park users to pay for their parking by either cash or credit/debit card. Additionally, both the long-term and short-term parking lots have gates positioned at the parking lot exits that accept cash and credit/debit cards. The following list details further information on airport car parking at Southampton Airport.
Short-Stay
Adjacent to the terminal building is the short-stay parking lot, which supplies most of the airport's parking spaces (1,300 spaces) and has convenient access to both the Arrivals and Departures entrances. Ramps and crosswalks provide easy access across the terminal access road, offering quick access to the terminal for luggage-laden visitors.
Long-Stay
Positioned well away from the terminal and the short-stay parking lot is Southampton Airport's long-stay lot, with 850 parking spaces. Despite its distance from the terminal building, the long-stay lot is convenient to use thanks to a fast and frequent free shuttle service that operates every 10 to 12 minutes, with the trip taking just a few minutes. Security at the long-term lot is very tight, so you can feel comfortable leaving your car unattended for days on end.
Disabled
Both the short-stay and the long-stay parking lots at Southampton Airport have specially designated parking spaces for disabled visitors with vehicles that have proper blue badge identification. In the short-stay lot, disabled parking spaces are positioned nearest to the crosswalks leading to the Arrivals and Departures entrances, while in the long-stay lot they are located adjacent to the shuttle stops. Airlines can arrange wheelchairs, while airport staff can assist disabled passengers in moving between the airport and the car parks.
