Located 4 miles / 6 km from the heart of Southampton, the airport has some of the most varied and convenient ground transportation options of any airport. There are local buses, taxis and shuttles as well as a train station located very close by.
Most of the large hotels near the grounds and in central Southampton have courtesy shuttles to transport guests to and from the airport.
Shuttle Buses
Local bus number 101 links the airport with Southampton University and central Southampton at least hourly, while two private shuttle companies (First Group and Unilink) run services to Southampton and regional destinations. Additionally, National Express has a terminal on Western Esplanade in Southampton and operates services to most towns and cities throughout England.
Hotel Shuttles
The larger hotels near the airport and in Southampton offer complimentary airport pick-up and drop-off services for their guests. Check directly with your accommodation provider or travel agent to see if such a service is available and make a booking prior to your arrival at the airport.
Trains
Boasting the closest European train-airport connection, Southampton Airport is within walking distance of Southampton Airport (Parkway) Station. There are up to three fast connections to London Waterloo Station each hour as well as convenient links to many InterCity destinations.
